A spectacle never seen before in downtown Chicago is heading this way, thanks to Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC).  Stand at the corner of State and Lake early this fall and look upward.  Rappelling 27 stories (278 feet) down the exterior façade of theWit Hotel’s signature lightning bolt will be 100 adventurous Chicagoans taking “the plunge” for bragging rights and the promotion of lung health.  An exhilarating, once-in-a-lifetime experience, Skyline Plunge! Chicago is an event expected to raise at least $100,000 for RHAMC. 

This rappelling event will be the first of its kind anywhere in Illinois.  One hundred brave participants will descend from atop theWit Hotel to raise awareness and money for the fight against lung disease, which affects more than one million people in the Chicagoland area.   Skyline Plunge! Chicago will raise funds through corporate sponsorships and a minimum commitment of $1,000 per individual climber.  The event is expected to draw local celebrities, business executives, athletes, and everyday adventurers who will take part in this unique urban rappelling experience.  In addition to theWit Hotel, RHAMC will partner with Over the Edge, a Canadian-based organization that oversees these exciting events in cities across the country.
